 Get Growing" to the Okanagan!Available: May 16/08 - Sept. 23/08 Come and explore the rich agricultural landscape of the Okanagan valley! The city of Kelowna, centrally located in the Okanagan offers a variety of unique public gardens for visitors to enjoy. Our "Get Growing" morning tour begins with a guided visit to the spectacular Elysium Garden Nursery. A former apple orchard, the nursery encompasses three acres of display garden specializing in uncommon perennials, as well as, native and ornamental grasses. An onsite nursery and gift shop has professional staff to assist you in making the right purchase for your gardening climate. Continuing along to the Okanagan Lavender Farm where over an entire acre is bursting with 27 varieties of lavender. A charming country store features organically grown lavender products, and potted herb gardens. Guests of the Lavender Farm are invited to create their own lavender wand wrapped in ribbon and with the assistance of their garden guide a small lavender cutting is available to pot yourself as a memento of your visit. A short scenic drive away is the Kelowna Land & Orchard featuring a traditional Tea House that is a perfect setting for a lunch break. With panoramic views of Okanagan Lake from the protected patios or the inside dining area, the menu boasts a selection of fresh seasonal organic produce served in the style of Northwest cuisine. After a tasty lunch, continue enjoying the view on a tractor driven hay wagon and tour the orchards as you listen to the guide point out the varieties of apples that thrive in the valley. Wrap up your tour with a visit to their remarkable gift shop and fill your basket with locally grown and crafted treasures. |
